Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Don't Do Business with Viasat-Wildblue-Excede

Fair warning: this is a rant.

I strongly recommend that NO ONE do business with Wildblue/Viasat/Excede. We became dissatisfied with their service at the beginning of June. I called customer support several times, we did what they said we should do to restore our service to a satisfactory level. They gave me a phone number of a tech to come out to try to do something with our dish, but he did not return my calls. We put up with terrible connectivity for almost two months.
 Finally, disgusted, we made other arrangements for internet service and cancelled our account. At the time I cancelled, I specifically asked the woman on the phone about a refund of the dollars remaining, which we had paid in advance per their requirement. It amounted to most of a month. She told me it would be credited to our account within 24 hours. That was two days ago.
Now I am on hold to talk to a supervisor, because they have not refunded our money, and the person I have been talking to tells me it is their policy not to refund for a partial month.
...I talked to the floor manager at their call center, and he said he had to "escalate" my complaint to corporate, and they would have to decide. So I will have to wait up to three days to find out if we are going to get back what we paid but didn't use.
I have never heard of such terrible business practices in my life. Do not do business with this company if you have any choice at all. They don't need your money.

Update 8/2/13: Our money has been refunded, and I thank God for it. But I stand by my recommendation: do not do business with this company!
