Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

New Leaf

One morning early last September,
I was waiting for my sister-in-law to finish some business.
This umbrella plant caught my eye.
I liked the round leaves against the straight blinds and the shadows showing through.
And that new leaf, so much smaller than the others--
could I capture it?

Yes!

I have one of those! I won it for paying my rent on time about 7 years ago. It is getting big now! BUT, I know it by another name which I can't tell you now because I am not home to look.

The young, small leaves fascinate me with their delicacy. The light green and dark green on the beige stripes of the blind catch the eye offering a nice tricolor sight.

good morning dimple...we have one of these trees and it is getting so big!
when bernie and i moved to our house 13 years ago, the lady who we worked for gave us a slip off of her office plant and it has done really well. it is a tree in our house. in the spring and summer, it spends its days on the front porch decorated with an american and canadian flag, but i never knew what it was called before today! umbrella plant..real cool!....have a real nice day...love terry

It's always amazing at how much beauty there is everywhere we look, if only we just look. Glad you took a pick so we could enjoy too.

You're right - the blinds in the background really add an interesting element to the shapes and textures of the photos - good job!
