This caboose isn't going anywhere. It is an exhibit at a local museum, and the tracks under it are not much longer than the car!
I took these shots early this month. Most of the snow is gone now; if you look closely you will see that it was raining when these were made, and we have had a lot of rain since.
In this last picture, you can see the stove pipe. The stove burned wood to keep the men inside warm in winter.
Cabooses are no longer used. I think trains without them are severely lacking in character, but no one asked my opinion!

Oh, how fun trains can be. I have two grandsons that have learned to love them also.
This old caboose has so much bright character! At least it has been preserved!
Beautiful, excellent color combination.
That's a beautiful train!
My MYM
Nice shots and I did not know that cabooses were retired now. That's sad.
I agree ... a train really should have a caboose! This one is a beauty!
Very interesting pictures, Dimple. Beautiful and bright touches in this mostly monochromatic season! And you scored a homerun or something touching so many memes with this post. Yay for you!
looks like a fun ride, in its prime!
pretty, too!
have a great day!
Come and visit me sometime!

I have never seen a yellow caboose. Here they are always red.
Great entry for MYM.
Great yellow photo!
Oh, how fun! give me a caboose any day!
Dear yellow caboose,
do you miss your rolling days
now that you’re retired?
Visit the yellow-jacketed dog man!
I still see them here and there. It will be hard giving up all those memories.
p.s. I just discovered your Astronomy Picture of the Day link. Great resources.
No one ever does ask our opinion about cancelling things, do they? I love the brightness of this caboose. Somehow, I always thought they were red.
dear dimple...i feel the same way about it. why they ever got rid of the caboose is far beyond me..to me, it was as if they cut up a big chunk of character from the train.
when the goldens were little kids, we used to wait for the end of the train and then wave with all our might at the men that were always in those cabooses and the guys ALWAYS waved back..oh what a loss!....love terry
I love your yellow caboose with red accents and admire your multi-tasking! Well done ;-)
Hugs and blessings,
Small Reflections
Vibrant yellow!
Birthday Cake for mellow yellow monday!
My grandsons would love this caboose. if you hadn't put in a photo I wouldn't have known what it was.
Many thanks for the Bible verses. They happen to be among my favourites.

Nice touch of red.
Art Explorations of my kids is my entry!
What a cute caboose...I do miss seeing them on trains these days! Great captures!
Thanks for sharing these nice photos. Haven't seen such.
Great shots!
The red and yellow sure worked for the memes didn't it. :)
There is one almost like this displayed locally at a children's playground but it's fenced in.
In my hometown I gentleman bought one for his backyard. Guess he had some money he needed to get rid of. LOL!
Great shot, love the caboose!
Sadly, modern railway equipment has lost much of the personality of old. This one would enliven any stretch of railway.
Very fun photographs, so bright and cherrful!
I love the old trains.
Maybe one of these days I will take a train trip.

I see lots of cabooses as museums and other points of interest now. But this certainly colorful, unlike many I have seen
i've never seen a more colorful caboose, cool pic
