Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

The rust in your photo looks extraordinarily like some lichen on stone that I took photographs of today. Maybe they're related!

WELCOME THE SHADOWS

Welcome the shadows surrounding your life,
Treat them as lover or husband or wife;
Welcome them in as you would one who’s dear;
Hug them, embrace them without any fear;
Honor, respect them, and give them their due,
For shadow and light are both parts of you.

It is amazing that rust and lichens can look so pretty.
I also loved the photos of the water in your last post. Love wet pebbles.

Steel is solid and functional in so many of its uses. Yet when the steel item gets tired, it takes on the oxidizing rust. We often think of rust which indicates a sort of uselessness. But not really, as the tiny plant life has found a perfect home which to thrive. What a neat view!

My shadow post, have a good night!

I love this crisp clear close-up. I can imagine this machinery clean and new, freshly painted. The patina your photo gives shows us the part of life that happens from idleness. Very good shot and capture.

peace.

If you get a dupe of this comment, please forgive. I was trying to say that this is one of your more powerful compositions yet! I know you're into texture and coloring as in the previous post but your compositions are getting beter and better too!!!

Wow! I don't know that I've ever seen lichens on anything other than a tree. I didn't know they could grow on something like this. It's quite beautiful!

Interesting photo--you can just "pass it along" for Mellow Yellow Monday too with that lovely yellow color of lichen. As always, great shot. Mickie :)

I've only recently become aware of the word lichen' as a cousin of mine was diagnosed with lichen in the mouth's soft tissue. It could cause a lot of trouble there. But, in your picture it brings out only beauty and harmony.
