Credit Where It Is Due
Credit Where It is Due
I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

The last pc is quite interesting! Great shots n hv a great weekend ahead.
Great clouds and fantastic structure! The last pix is my choice, the angle in which you've framed the shot is fascinating:)
That is one cool teepee!
It could also make a neat firepit.
And I love the lonely tree, too.
those are amazing captures! hope you could also come visit my entry at http://bustlingbangkok.info/the-kings-park/
Terrific SOOC shot!!!! Have a happy Sunday!
Just beautiful shot...Happy SOOC Sunday.
Mine is here
WOW!!! This series is awesome. The blue sky and all of the different shots from different perspectives of the tepee are fabulous. I am sure you were stunned when you saw your images on the screen. They are too beautiful for words. My favorite is the one you took looking up towers the sky. Kudos! Genie
Amazing. You have a great eye for form. If I ever get a camera I want lessons from you!
I like those shadows, Dimple!
I'd imagine that the natives didn't use reinforced cast concrete as well...
The teepee frame in the rest area gas that look of permanence, built to last and such interesting style, too. I imagine that when seeing this on the interstate, a bathroom break would be in order...
Great series of shots! That is quite the amazing structure.

The last two shots are intriquing to me, Dimple!
Fantastic perspective, I love them all. Well captured.
There's a lot to like about this entire series. That teepee frame sculpture is sure photogenic... or rather your view of it. I especially like the composition of the second photo with the big sky and teepee top shadow. Well done!
Wonderful series. Your photos evoke the old movies while containing a more modern touch.

I love the photos inside the teepee looking up! I like that the rest stop has it and isn't just another generic concrete box along a generic concrete (asphalt?) highway.

the photos are very beautiful :)
I know these rest areas well. I get to South Dakota often. I like the fact that South Dakota honors its heritage of the Native American people. Although there are complaints as to how people are treated on reservation lands.
Native teepees that I have seen and helped set up were not notched. They were tied in a bundle at the top and leaned against one another. The taller the pole, the wider thew teepee at the bottom.
Great shadow shots. I'm always jealous when I hear folks are traveling. Now tyou've created even more wanderlust in me. Time for a motorcycle trip.
Peace
Amazing shots! LG Tina
And even better - I love the blues of the bottom photo!
That blue sky in the background makes for beautiful dramatic shots. You have a good eye!
I hear you on the rest stops...when we travel south for the winter we appreciate the many rest stops along interstate 95
Lovely shot of the center of our country, thank you
These are great shots!
You can see for miles out there, and the blue, blue sky. Beautiful.
What a clever shot! It really made some interesting shadows.
Great photos and I love the perspective on that last one!
I like the way you show it from different angles and croppings.
great shadows and the last one with only the sky as background is perfect
Wow, what fantastic lines, shadows and perspectives that teepee affords! I love all of them, but especially the one with the tree in the distance, and the one looking up through the hole in the top. Fantastic.
your photos are incredible, and w/o fail, make me smile.
Love your pictures, they are Great! I especially like the one looking up through the tee pee. Thanks for sharing.
Great shots of an interesting structure. The last shot is marvelous!
I love these shots! The clouds add to the beauty.
oh, I just LOVE South Dakota! and I really like the shots from inside the structure shooting up towards the brilliant sky - nice job!
I think I may have been to that rest stop, Louise. Haha~! Small world? Whereabouts in Nebraska? Did you run into any flooded roads?
Thanks for linking up to YSB today. I appreciate you being there!
