Credit Where It is Due
I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.
The river makes for a lovely picture, but it is sad that there has been so much flooding this year, and other areas that are suffering from horrendous droughts. If we could just "spread it around" when and where it is needed, it would be nice. I like your "smoke holes" too--interesting photos. Have a nice weekend. Mickie :)
this land looks so foreign, and yet it's not all that far away. the colors in the first photo are dreamy, especially the water. what a huge expanse of land. it's so...big. great shots Dimple.
I like the first photo Dimple. The second could benefit from some local contrast enhancement. Unsharp Masking using a small percentage (10 to 20), a large radius (30 to 60) and zero threshold.
I suspected your second mono shot was the sepia you had talked about. You might give Gimp a try. It's free. I use it for some things but since Gimp can't handle 16 bit images, I use Picture Window Pro for my heavy lifting. In fact, I finally upgraded to PWP 5.0 the other day.
When I wrote the short poem, puddles popped into my head when I was searching for a good verb. Glad you like the words.
I got the idea from John Daido Loori and his "Making Love with Light" book. He pairs his images and short poems together (on facing pages). The synergy of image and words can be nice.
In both pictures we have the three elements of Nature: hills, trees, water.
I particularly like the coloring of the hills and the reflection of the trees in water as it is displayed in the first picture, which is ,as someone has remarked, like a painting.

There is a lot of water in that river. The west had been in a drought for years, did we have to get all the shortfall at once?

I am sorry. I think I did comment during your anonymous experiment and it was not spam, maybe not very personal but not spam.
It seems rain is voluminous or scarce across the US. We had a lot in May and now the spigot is seemingly welded off.

I like the river shot. Looks like the trees are going down to the river to get their roots wet.
