Credit Where It is Due
I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.
I am a color person, but maybe try some B&W. Right now I am experimenting with zoom while exposing, and taking ground level shots while more or less standing I am not young in age, just heart. My body does not allow me to lay on my belly to take macros of toadstools. (See recent post). But my young at heart still loves to play, experiment, and praise the LORD I still have most of my mind.
Nice series Dimple but I think they need a bit more contrast. You should try local contrast enhancement some time. Use UCM sharpening with a large radius (30-60), a small amount (10-20 % or so) and 0 threshold.
Dimple, these are beautiful macros of the flowers. I like the tones seen in the top one best. But my words mean so little... reading John's comment reminds me again how very very little I know about the technical side of photography. Oh well, maybe in my next life I can train to become a real photographer. For now, taking and sharing pretty pictures that tell stories will have to do. :-)
Amazing macros...you have really hit the high note with these. They are absolutely beautiful. Maybe I need to get off of this computer and get outside with the camera. It is a beautiful day here and not so hot...and the kids return to school tomorrow. My fun and games are now over for 9 months. genie

These are beautiful. I very rarely publish florals in black and white -- I find it difficult to do. You make it look easy. :)

I like the way the structure and parts of flowers show up in black and white.
