Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Nebraska Sky

This was taken just outside the gate of Scotts Bluff National Monument in western Nebraska.
I found it in my archive as I was looking for a photo for
I think I will also link with Scenic Sunday. I hope everyone has a good weekend!

P.S. This place was a landmark on the Oregon Trail. If you are interested in the history of the Trail,

Was thinking of you about an hour ago when I walked past our local grocers (on a main road) and saw a white horse outside the door, waiting patiently while two men chatted. I hesitated - then took a picture reckoning it was such a surprising and public place to stand with a horse, they probably wouldn't mind.

The photo of Scotts Bluff is impressive; definitely scenic and certainly will a great contribution to Skywatch.

You captured the Nebraska countryside very nicely--thanks for resurrecting it for us to enjoy.
p.s. Where are you in northern Idaho? My husband grew up in Cd'A [me, Pocatello]
Happy Labor Day weekend.

Looking through your photos I keep convincing that we are from the same birds' flock. I want to fly when I see photos like this one.

Is that a wagon wheel off to the right? And something else: mailbox?

The pic popped up before the words and I said "I don't think we're in Idaho any more". We've been to Scottsbluff -- its a really neat place and sure works for this meme.

Love those archives!

Scenic it certainly is!!! Lovely place and in Nebraska of all places!!! I'll have to take a weekend trip up there sometime and check it out--not that far at all. Very nice. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie :) AND, your "waves" were awesome!

What a marvellous backdrop the sky makes for the Bluff! A book called 'Children on the Oregon Trail' made it downunder to OZ when I was a child - it was one of my favourites, so it's great to see part of the actual trail!
