Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Mountain Views

When I was growing up we lived in a city in central California, about equally far from the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. It was a good balance; we enjoyed visiting both.
I attended college near the ocean. I like the sea.

But I love the mountains.

Gorgeous perfect b&w pictures. When we're in Florida during the Winter, I don't think about missing the mountains, but as we drive west when we come back, the first Mountains we see (usually in Colorado) make my heart go pit-a-pat!

I've been the the Rockies once (but a number of times in the one holiday) and the coastal mountains of BC once or twice. Like the Coastal Mountains and love the Rockies.

I love the trees. When I am walking among trees I feel like I am in church. That's what your photos bring to mind, a majestic church.

The first photo looks menacing with its dark clouds and landscape. The other two - relaxing, with their silent trees and leaves.
Nature everywhere is like that - AMBIVALENT.

What beautiful black and white captures of nature in all of its glory. We seem to tend to think that photos have to be in color to present the image as we see it....I disagree. I adore the black and white. It does show us nature in all of its glory, but it leaves much of how we view the photo up to our imagination. These are wonderful. genie

Beautiful scenes. How nice that you lived equally far from the beach and the mountains!

The second shot sings to me Dimple. I really really like it. I almost mentioned the flowers in my write up but decided not to. Glad you discovered them.

Oh I love the mountains too. I have only had the pleasure of being on the west coast twice but I can still here those mountains calling out to me. I want to go back.
Amazing shots. B
