Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Strange Reflection Revealed

I went for a walk one day last August, following tracks of various farm vehicles that criss-cross  the property. I trekked behind my brother-in-law's place, and this eerie sight met my eyes. I was startled, and even slightly fearful-what was that odd looking thing, anyway??? An extra-terrestrial??
I'm not one for running from stuff that is odd, at least not in broad daylight, so I took a breath and stepped closer.
I recognized that it was light on the wall of a shed, not an alien. Phew! But why is it so weird?
This is the shot I cropped for last week's post:

No one guessed that the light was reflected from the side of a junked gasoline pump, which didn't surprise me: it's not a commonly found item! However, I enjoyed everyone's comments and imaginative ways of looking at this reflection. It was rather like seeing shapes in clouds: everyone sees something different. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I like it. The reflection still reminds me of a raptor plunging to earth.

That really is the neatest thing. I love the way you cropped it, it looks like a piece of abstract art. Nice capture. Kathy

It´s a real glowing ethereal X-files alien etched to the wall of the shack. Creepy, cool and great!

The reflection really does look like a bird diving head first into the ground.

That's pretty cool, but even so it really looks alien. Kind of like an E.T.'s head. Some of the designs on the wood look like little eyes and the reflection seems to make a strange face with a big head. I have a wild imagination though. :)

Reflected light produces interesting effects, and you caught this very well.

That is unusual, and a bit eery looking too. I'd never have guessed gas tank, that's for sure.
