Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

A Three-fer: Bench, Sky, and Reflection

This is my post for Bench of the Week, Skywatch Friday and Looking at the Sky on Friday, and James's Weekend Reflections. Please visit their sites to see lots more of everything!

I was waiting for my husband last Friday. It was time for lunch, and I knew he would not be ready for quite a while, so I went to a nice cafe I knew of which was close by. This cafe has seating in the spacious lobby of a new building in town which also houses a bank branch and several office suites. Here are some things I saw:
The seating surrounds a fountain designed like a pool fed by a mountain stream. I could have chosen to sit with my back to the water, using a bench. I decided to use a chair.

The lobby is well lit by both artificial and natural light. Looking into the pool, I saw a reflection of the skylight.

Here is a self-portrait reflected in a sign. That's the photographer in a pink shirt!
After lunch I went up the glass-enclosed elevator to the mezzanine. In this shot the overcast sky is clearly visible. It's not much to look at, but it is November, after all!
As I was leaving, I noticed the reflection in the glass curtain wall--there's that overcast sky again! This part of the building is not being used yet. If you look at the white spot at the bottom of the window, you will see a stop sign which is on the street corner on the opposite side. Enlarge the picture and look closely, it is there!
Lunch being over, I returned to my waiting. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

That is a very nice bench made of fine wood. My bench is very rustic located on the edge of the Grand Canyon. You must have enjoyed some peaceful moments while waiting for your husband. Nice post, nice bench!

I quite like the reflection of the skylight in the pool. I am always attracted to strong criss-cross lines.

dear dimple..these are not only fantastic pictures but the the post has such an enduring story,
i enjoyed it so much and you know what?
i really had to look for that stop sign!
what i did was click on to the picture to enlarge it..couldn't find that sign. then i clicked on the golden square at the bottom right of the enlarged picture which made the picture even bigger!..ah success...wow wee!...what a great shot dimple!
and oh the pretty reflection of you reflected in the sign and isn't it funny? there are other people in that refection too that never even suspected that they were being snapped!..hahahaha!
the picture of those small stones is nice too dimple...is it where people can throw a coin to wish on.?
there looks like there is are a couple of coins there.
great reading dimple...so not boring!..love terry
