Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Scenic Sky, Shadows and Reflection

Wednesday was a wonderful, sunny day. I was thankful, as the light helped lift my mood. I had to keep an appointment and run a few errands, so I decided to use the route that took me past this place. It was a good decision! This view is my contribution for Skywatch Friday, Looking at the Sky on Friday, Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday, and Scenic Sunday. What a blissful place! I can only imagine how quiet and calming it must be - except perhaps on the eyes where sunnies would be mandatory.

This week between Christmas and New Year is a perfect time for reflections and taking stock both of the year gone and the year ahead.

Merry Christmas. Happy 2010.

It reminds me of the time my family lived in Northern Russia - the rivers were frozen 5 months/year. We actually had to go skiing on the river as part of PE in school. Wonderful view!

A beautiful photo - I do like the "swirly" bits and the leaning tree silhouetted on the right.
Cheers.

The beauty of the Northwest is quite apparent. The wide sky leaves reflections of nature's art, the water flows in a pleasant arc and the mount in the distance shows us the rugged Idaho landscape. Such stunning country compels us to keep looking and looking...

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL view ... perfect for all three memes. I'm glad you stopped and decided to share with us. You're smart to be multi-tasking like this! Thanks for visiting the Sky Mosaic at Small Reflections last week. I'm playing 'catch up' today after a few BUSY days celebrating with family ... and am sharing a mosaic of Scenic Shadow Shots that I took in Hemet, CA on Christmas Eve.
Hugs and blessings,

This is really, really beautiful. Wow!

Dimple said...

Gerald-I just looked at those footprints up close, and I think most of what you see were made by birds. I have also seen dog paw prints in this area. Thanks for asking!

Gerald (SK14) said...

I thought they were probably birds - thanks for checking.
