Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Nebraska "Lighthouse"

Near Scottsbluff, Nebraska, is man-made Minatare Lake.
Nebraska has no ocean shoreline,
but those who designed this lake chose to put in a "lighthouse."

One can enter this structure,

and climb the (very narrow) stairs,

To see the lake and the weather.

As you can see, the water was quite high when I was there.
I enjoyed our visit!

There's a sense of M.M - Mystery and Might, about the lake and the lighthouse, that you've managed to capture perfectly in your photos.

Of course, the W/B color adds some drama to the images displayed.

I think it's a great idea, a lighthouse on a lake. Beautiful.

Lovely photos. I particularly like the one you took of the stairs.

Ohhh, I like these Dimple. They are all fine images. I have to agree with Dragonstar. That is if I had to pick one. Fortunately I can enjoy all and don't have to choose. LOL

Very cool!

There is a similar {but shorter} tower located just outside Deadwood which was built as a tribute to Teddy Roosevelt.

No lake to view there, but sure lots of beauty anyway.

This lighthouse is beautiful, and the pictures you took as always, are really special.

Nebraska must be such a lovely place!

Blessings on you as a new month begins.

I believe it's the first time I see a lighthouse at a lake. The top composition is wonderful!

Very interesting post. A lighthouse on a lake in Nebraska! perfect trivia question.
I love how the tree frames the lighthouse.

I am in love with lighthouses and windmills. This one is a superb example of an older one. My, would I love to clink those old steep steps. Like the stonework. Fine shot. genie

Nice series of shots of the "faux" lighthouse and its interior. Lots of textures there, better in black and white than in colour I reckon, thanks for sharing:)
