Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Spring Flower Meme Fest

Spring is busting out all over! (That's a slight paraphrase of a song...) Anyway, I've been walking around our property and in town, taking pictures of flowers, and I decided to share some and cover several memes at the same time. I hope you enjoy them!

First, for Shadow Shot Sunday and Ruby Tuesday, is this hawthorn tree:
Next, for Mellow Yellow Monday, are daffodils and skunk cabbage:
Skunk cabbage smells terrible, but it is the earliest wildflower to bloom here, and is lovely to look at. Most of the plants are done flowering now, but I found this one still blooming last weekend.

For Blue Monday and Macro Monday I have Grape Hyacinth:
Finally, because it is part of My World and is covered in blossoms, a cherry tree complete with bumble bee:
(Look on the right side of this pic to find the bee.)
Click on any picture to see it better, and follow the links to the various memes and see what others have posted.

Blessings!

The yellow daffodils and the cherry tree flowers - are my favourites because of their delicate colors and shape. I feel joy in my heart just by looking at the pictures of these beautiful flowers.

I, too, sometimes enjoy linking memes in one post. Some people do crossword puzzles; I blog! Great post.

Ps....regarding your comment you left for me today, and the oil spill....no, Corpus Christi's side of the Gulf is not affected at all. The ocean's currents go toward Florida away from the Texas coastline.

I love it when the flowers finally start blooming. Beautiful shots!

I've entered a major international photo competition (details are on my blog) and would be most grateful if you'd click through and rate my portfolio (just click on the stars at the bottom (preferably the 5th star - "fantastic" - LOL), easy peasy, no registration or personal details needed). Thanks so much!

The hawthorn tree has beautiful flowers. Mine are white and turn pink...but not as pink (or red) as yours!

I love your flowers for MYM, Blue Monday and Ruby Tuesday! Great shots! I've got separate photos for each of these picture parties.

What a beautiful selection of spring flowers. The hawthorn is beautiful, but the white cherry blossoms certainly take first price.
My grandmother would always say, ugly flowers do not exist. The skunk cabbage was new to me too, stylish lines, but with that name probably best kept outdoors!

hi dimple!
how is it that i have less time since that bernie has retired?
i think that it is because he always wants to be on the go and then when we ARE at home and i am trying to blog, well then he gets into a real talking spree!
anyways, i hope that you will forgive me for staying away for so long...oh..here he goes again.
i like your ruby tuesday blossoms dimple.
the reddest blossoms that we get in welland are the crab apple ones. the cherry blossoms are pretty too, but just a bit lighter shade,
the blossoms go so fast.
today was a real hot day here and i love it!
the hotter the better..you will never cstch bernie and me complaining about the summer sun and heat!
well happy ruby tuesday dimple!god bless you....love terry

I am not familiar with the hawthorn tree, but a lovely ruby it is! And it is not just a ruby here, all the flowers are stunning, the Spring is in bloom and you have captured it nicely.

Thanks for the kind words about graduate Allegra?

what a funny name, skunk cabbage. Are they the same family as a fruit salad. It's it funny, a cabbage and a salad?

i love the grape hyacinths ... when i was a child they used to cover the ground in a field near where i lived and i've never seen anything like it again.

Just a quick one before I go off to work.

Our fruit salad fruits are edible, not that I eat them. I have a big bush, I didn't dare to try them. The birds eat them. You can buy them in fruit shop. The flower is big, about 10 inches long.

I'm most impressed by your great photo of the skunk cabbage!

Nice series but my favorite is the skunk cabbage shot. My 87 year old mother would give any of those drivers a run for their money. Fortunately, grandmom McManiac (my son-in-law's) nickname for my mom, turned her car keys over to me. We can all breathe easier and the roads are much safer now. LOL
