Benches, Shadows, and Reflections

Well, I have no idea why I'm having such a hard time with this; I've done it many times before...
So today, text is first, and I hope the photo will cooperate later!

Yeah!!!
I went for a walk on a beautiful afternoon earlier this week, and I kept my camera busy! I think this is a neat shot looking down the main route through town. You can see three benches, each different from the others. I don't know if RuneE is still doing Friday benches, but I'm linking there just in case, and if you like benches as a photographic subject, PERBS posts a bench or two every day. Round Benches

It was early morning and I was at the grocery store. I finished my shopping and as I was loading my purchases in the car, I noticed this set of tables. They remind me of merry-go-rounds, but they don't spin. This time of year they are not used--except for photography!

A Three-fer: Bench, Sky, and Reflection

I was waiting for my husband last Friday. It was time for lunch, and I knew he would not be ready for quite a while, so I went to a nice cafe I knew of which was close by. This cafe has seating in the spacious lobby of a new building in town which also houses a bank branch and several office suites. Here are some things I saw:
The seating surrounds a fountain designed like a pool fed by a mountain stream. I could have chosen to sit with my back to the water, using a bench. I decided to use a chair.

The lobby is well lit by both artificial and natural light. Looking into the pool, I saw a reflection of the skylight.

Here is a self-portrait reflected in a sign. That's the photographer in a pink shirt!

After lunch I went up the glass-enclosed elevator to the mezzanine. In this shot the overcast sky is clearly visible. It's not much to look at, but it is November, after all!

As I was leaving, I noticed the reflection in the glass curtain wall--there's that overcast sky again! This part of the building is not being used yet. If you look at the white spot at the bottom of the window, you will see a stop sign which is on the street corner on the opposite side. Enlarge the picture and look closely, it is there!

Lunch being over, I returned to my waiting. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

A Little Forlorn

This bench could use some TLC, but I think it and its shadow are very pretty anyway.

Office Building Bench

This bench is in the lobby of a small office building where a friend of mine has her office. The plants are real. There is a lot of natural light. Every time I walk in I sense peace.

Bench with Bricks

This is the same style bench as last week's. I like the repetition of the iron slats in the side of the bench and the waste container, and the variations of line through the picture.

Autumn Bench and Sky

                            

There are several benches like this in my town. This one was abandoned to the wind, rain, and gray skies last Wednesday.

It is one of four placed around this fountain which was also abandoned, though on a hot summer day it is a popular place for children to cool off.

Autumn is here, can winter be far behind?

Bench & Reflections

I was driving to work recently with benches on my mind. I needed a bench for RuneE's meme! Then- Hooray!-I saw this one in front of a business that has yoga classes.

It's a pretty bench in a nice setting, even if it is on one of the busiest streets in my little town. I pulled over quickly and made these snaps. The last one is right out of the camera, but I edited the other two a little.

As I was preparing to post them , I noticed the reflection - Sweet! Palm trees and bamboo on the bench, and trees reflected in the window! So this is my post for Visual Norway's Bench of the week and James's Weekend Reflections.

Mystery Bench

This bench is in an unusual place; I don't think anyone would want to sit on it!


Interesting...nice iron work, but one of the slats on the back is missing...definitely not a bus stop or taxi stand-it's facing the wrong way...I wonder what's going on?


Oh, I see! It's a signboard! I hope the artist had lots of visitors!

Bench of the Week

This is actually a picnic table--but it has benches! It comes apart like a puzzle so it can be stored flat or carried in your vehicle. It's not very big, but it is handy! To see more benches, visit Visual Norway.

It's Friday! Time for Benches and Sky!

Sometimes I just can't decide. I looked through my photos for interesting sky pics, but none measured up. Then I looked again at this one, which I took only a few hours ago thinking of the bench.

"By golly, it can be a sky picture, too!" I said.

So this bench in the sunshine and the dark, threatening sky behind it are my submissions for both Skywatch Friday and Visual Norway's Bench of the Week!
