Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Park Bench and Shadow

I haven't posted a bench recently, but last week when I was out and about I chanced upon this one. It invited me to take its picture, so I accepted! It's located in a small park in my little town, and looks rather comfortable, even in winter. I know PERBS and Malyss are still posting benches regularly, so if you would like to see more of these useful and interesting seats, stop by their blogs. For more shadowy images, visit Hey Harriet.

Scenic Sky, Shadows and Reflection

Wednesday was a wonderful, sunny day. I was thankful, as the light helped lift my mood. I had to keep an appointment and run a few errands, so I decided to use the route that took me past this place. It was a good decision! This view is my contribution for Skywatch Friday, Looking at the Sky on Friday, Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday, and Scenic Sunday. Thanks to Sandy

A while back Sandy aka Doris the Great of AGING DISGRACEFULLY had a give away, and I won. My gift arrived today: the promised Dark Chocolate Covered Cranberries! I haven't opened them yet, I think I may save them to share on Christmas Day. Maybe. If I can keep from opening them! Then again, maybe everyone will have to make do with fruitcake!
Sandy also sent things to go with this treat: red napkins with a reindeer motif and a beautiful embroidered kitchen towel. Also included was a cute Christmas card and a seasonal family newsletter which I enjoyed reading.
Thank you Sandy, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Red Bricks & Window Reflection

This was taken at my daughter's university in 2005, a couple of months before she graduated. We were waiting for her to come out of this building, and I was taking pictures to pass the time. I was glad I looked up, because this caught my eye!

To see more reflections, visit James at Newtown Area Photo; and to see more red things go visit maryt at Work of the Poet for Ruby Tuesday.

Shady Creek Reflection

This was taken about a year ago. It is a little creek which runs near my brother's place in northern California.  I like the blue of the reflected sky and the shadows of the trees.

For more reflections, visit Newtown Area Photo. To see more shadows, head over to Hey Harriet.

Full Moon at Dawn

It was cold this morning, and clear. I had to get going fairly early, but when I went out to start the car, I ran back in for my camera.

 Now you know why.
For more sky pictures, visit Skywatch Friday and Looking at the Sky on Friday. Have a great weekend!

Round Benches

It was early morning and I was at the grocery store. I finished my shopping and as I was loading my purchases in the car, I noticed this set of tables. They remind me of merry-go-rounds, but they don't spin. This time of year they are not used--except for photography!

To see more benches, visit Visual Norway, For the Love of Benches, and Benches on My Way.

Tree in a Tub Over Water

This is a tiny tree. It lives in a big concrete tub which has been placed on a bridge where pedestrians trek. That is why I have taken it from my trove for ABC Wednesday.
The bridge spans a river, which naturally is full of water. This particular morning the water was steaming up into the colder air, and above, behind the tree's top, a low cloud of water vapor made a good backdrop. All this water is why I have also listed this in Watery Wednesday.  Drop by these two fun memes to see more Ts and water.
