Credit Where It Is Due

Credit Where It is Due

I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

Abstract for Watery Wednesday

I left this just as it came from the camera so you could see the shoreline and know it really is water. Taken during the summer at Lake Koocanusa, Montana, USA.

Machine & Muffs

We own a smallish tract of forest, and sometimes cut logs to sell. This is a shot of the earmuffs my husband wears to protect his hearing when running this very loud piece of equipment.
I hope everyone has a Mellow Yellow Monday and a restful Ruby Tuesday!

Blue Sheep for Ruby Tuesday

Baa, baa blue sheep, have you any wool?
No, Sir, No Sir, I'm much too cool!

This was taken at our county fair last month. I thought the lamb's jacket was neat! It also helps keep the animal neat and clean for judging.

Tree Frog

This little guy was on the outside of our backdoor window a while back. My husband spotted him, and I grabbed the camera! It's not often you get to see the underside of these cool creatures.

Mystery Bench

This bench is in an unusual place; I don't think anyone would want to sit on it!

Interesting...nice iron work, but one of the slats on the back is missing...definitely not a bus stop or taxi stand-it's facing the wrong way...I wonder what's going on?

Oh, I see! It's a signboard! I hope the artist had lots of visitors!

This lovely bench is one of a pair in front of a local business. It is inviting me to look closer.

Mountain Squall for Skywatch Friday

Last Sunday was the last fishing day this year for me.
My husband and I were at Koocanusa again, but the kokanee weren't biting too well as most of them were preparing to spawn. The weather was unsettled, to say the least. This first picture shows a front moving in, waves of clouds in the ocean of air.

Next we saw the rain. Those white ridges and peaks are getting wet! The squall line was moving our direction, and when WE started getting really wet, we headed in.

Half an hour later we reached the dock--in the sunshine. We took a break at camp.
This shows the sun, shining through yet more rain. It was beautiful; very shiny and wet.
Then I turned around. . .

and saw the most magnificent rainbow I have ever seen! It was close-just across the parking lot. It had all the regular color bands plus extras on the blue end, and it went right through this Ponderosa pine. Click on the photo to see!

So although we didn't catch many fish this trip, it was certainly worth the time!
