Credit Where It is Due
I like to make photographs, and I enjoy being praised for what I have done. But God teaches a different attitude, one of thankfulness and humility. He pointed that out to me recently. I DO NOT MAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS ALONE. I didn't create the light, or the technology which makes photography possible. I didn't buy my camera, it was a gift from my husband. I didn't give myself the ability to see through the camera in order to make an image which others find pleasing. It is right to use what I have been given to the best of my ability, but it is wrong to take credit for what I have not done. God made the light, the elements which are used to manufacture the camera, and the world from which these images come. He has given me gifts: people to teach me, eyes to see with, and a brain to process information. I am thankful for these gifts. He deserves all the praise, not I.

I love this reflections shot! Usually when my rear-view mirror gets in a photo (more often than I care to admit), front-and-center is my face partly blocked out by the camera (yes, we still have the old view-finder type). An elbow is a nice change.
Lovely scenery. Picturesque mountain, and freight trains always give me a good, solid Americana feeling.

Watching trains is a great way to pass time! I hope they don't all become obsolete one day :( I'm wondering the same thing as VioletSky: you seem to be the only person on the road. Hmmm Did you leave work early to beat traffic? :)

Violet Sky & Cheryl- Actually, it was rather late, about 7 PM, September 1st when I took this, so I was the only one on that part of the road then. Most people were already home...
I like trains, and in this picture you also have a terrific setting.

I think it's a great reflection and you also caught the reflection of the sun against the car.

I wonder how many of us have a photo in the car with reflection in the side mirror. I have one we took last weekend I was going to post, would I be a kopy kat? Mine is different it does not have my elbow.

Fiddlesticks--post away! If we were "kopy kats" because our reflections were in the water or on a window, no one but the first one would be original! Same goes for car side mirrors!

PS You are quite right - "The blob" (which BTW is one of my daughters ;-) ) was placed intentionally just there to the break a potential monotony. However, I agree That she might have worn another jacket, but the picture wasn't exactly planned in detail...
Hello, Dimple! I am an Idaho girl, too! Born & raised in Coeur d'Alene. I live in Hawaii now but soon will be back on the mainland. We're moving to Friday Harbor, WA.
It was nice to see pics from home (I scanned pages of your blog). Hawaii is beautiful but my heart longs for blue lakes and pine trees.
