Thistledown

One day in August,

a few years ago,

I went for a walk

Camera in tow.

I passed some thistles

With seeds downy ripe

A fine breeze tugged at

Each seed's fluffy kite.

Could I catch the dance

Of down in the breeze?

Could my fingers and

lens do it? Oh, please!

This little fairy

Danced free-what delight!

And flew on its way

Playing in the light.

Another puff came,

More fairies danced free:

They followed the first

Skipping through the trees.

I impulsively turned down the road which goes by this place.

This kayaker,

Enjoying an evening paddle,

Caught my eye.

I had to hurry,

From the Bridge

To get to town from home, I have to cross a bridge.

Sometimes traffic is very slow.

We just returned from a road trip to Indiana and Nebraska. We were on the interstate highways a LOT. Now, one nice thing about interstate highways is the availability of rest areas. They vary from state to state, but offer an opportunity to stand up, walk around, and, if you're like me, take pictures! These shots were from one rest area in South Dakota. The frame of a concrete teepee...

This looks like it could have been set up as a sundial, too!

I think the Indians used notches like you see here, but probably not bolts and wire!
